Recently I attended the first National Open Source Innovation Summit in Dublin Ireland, organised by Open Ireland Network. It was an opportunity to learn more about different types of open source engagement across government, industry and research bodies. It brought home (no pun intended) the breath of engagement and interest in open source while also underlining the importance to continue to build local networks, alongside the international networks that we are more used to.

A number of guest speakers, many from outside Ireland, shared their experiences and I found the opportunity to take followup with them face to face was really valuable. Sharing perspectives and insights with these diverse groups helps us better understand and strengthen the digital commons which we all rely on.

The agenda breakdown gives a good overview of the day itself and I expect material to be shared in the coming weeks.

Congratulations to all that put effort into creating the event and bringing the day together. It was a really great step forward.
